The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of supervision on teacher's professional growth from the principal's perspective. Building upon the work of Burns (1978), Bass (1985), and Bass and Avolio (1994), Leithwood (1994) developed a transformational model of school leadership. All higher education institutions operate on a semester system—fall semester, winter semester and an optional summer term. Schooling is compulsory for 6 years, beginning at age 7 and culminating at age 12. School administrators are mandated to take the instructional leadership roles.
